How Going For Your Goal(s) Can Be Similar To Climbing A Mountain.

Updated: Jan 10, 2022

What you will encounter vs what you expected in the first place can be so different. Because no one person is able to describe the process of the letter, we never get to find out until when you’re well on your way. Imagine going up a mountain and the temptation of looking down or going back because ….

You know that going back will be more painful than going ahead. Maybe not physically but emotionally. It can also be harder to start again having lost all the momentum.

This blog has been inspired by a few people I have met during the holidays who felt like giving up forgetting that they have come a long way.

Let’s look at a few things one can do when faced with the temptation of giving up.

Staying focused

It can be easy to get us off our track if we focus too much on things that do not support us on our journey.

Focus is underestimated yet it can be the difference between making it to the mountain top and giving up.

There are so many ways to stay focused which I have shared in other blogs. (Check out here)

Remembering why you started in the first place.

We tend to make a decision to start with vigour, high drive and ambition to complete. We never get to see the in-between, possible challenges or setbacks also known as lessons.

Someone successful in their own right once told me that always looking back and remembering why we started, can be a great way of tapping into that energy over and over again. After all, it is there, energy never disappears, we only tend to disconnect from it.

Connecting to it connects us to our dreams/desires/goals.

Realising that the journey is part of the end goal.

If going on holiday didn’t include the process of packing, driving to the airport, checking in and other things you do before you get there, a lot would be removed from the journey to the destination.

While some might dread the process, they acknowledge that it has to happen in order to get to the desired destination.

Best to embrace it …

Conclusion: When climbing, remember to smile, stop and smell the roses (if there’s any)

The process is what you will live to tell or to remember for as long as you shall live. Well depending on how many such mountains you get to climb.

I enjoy reading your stories and idea on topics shared with you. Please feel free to leave a comment or tips on how you stay focused along the way.
