Many local businesses could do a lot better if they took advantage of the free tools available such as directories - back to that in a minute.
First off let’s talk Positioning!
Positioning can be approached using different methods once you have your Unique Selling Point (USP) figured out.
A combination of Marketing (creating awareness) and Advertising (urgency) can then be applied. Each plays a different role, plus there are various channels and ways to execute.
Let’s take the internet and use land as an analogy. If the internet was land, websites, social media pages, and other distribution channels market places (Or real estate if you like that).
Get the produce to the market place thereby creating awareness (marketing) then make special deals if need be (Advertising).
One of the things I am ever grateful for is the internet. I feel that we are even luckily for being at the forefront of this evolution. We know what it means not to have the internet.
We are even are luckier we live in this era where we can have access to these market places for FREE. We do not necessarily need to run ads to create awareness, we can simply position our Products/service in various market places for our buyers to find, ponder upon or buy once they find what they want and/or need.

Whether your business has a website or not, it can still benefit from directory listings. They are usually free unless one decides to pay to be featured.
